See A Lineup Of All Contest Comedians

The 2013 Cleveland Comedy Festival Contest will feature 48 of the funniest up-and-coming comedians from all over the U.S. competing for a top prize of $2,000. Each prelim show will feature 12 comics. Top 2 will advance the Finals on Sunday 11/17. There will also be a Wild Card show on Fri 11/15 for eight 3rd & 4th place prelim finishers to try to make the Finals. Audience vote will count for 50% of the results so come out to support your favorite comedian.

Stay up late for some great comedy at Kennedy’s Theatre and see some cool, themed comedy shows. A different theme each night! Monday – Sports, Tuesday – Ladies Night (All Female Show), Wednesday – Urban Comedy, Thursday – Dirty Comedy and Friday – Bald Comedy (Follicle Challenged Lineup). Come on down or stay after the Prelim shows at 7:30.

Last Call has been performing sketch comedy on television and stage for over five years and in that time they’ve created content that has varied in quality from “excellent” to “unspeakably bad”. It’s only fitting that Cleveland’s best sketch comedy group performs in the Cleveland Comedy Festival. Join them on Wednesday, November 13 for a one show special engagement at the amazing 500-seat Allen Theatre.

Drawing on classic material from The Second City archives as well as scenes ripped from the morning headlines, The Second City’s Happily Ever Laughter is your chance to see comedy stars in the making in an evening of smart, cutting edge comedy. The Second City continues to deliver the leading voices in comedy while touring the globe. With scripted and improvisational elements, audiences always enjoy being part of the show and playing along with the next generation of comic legends. Many of comedy’s brightest stars have hit the road with The Second City Touring Company including Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Bill Murray, Keegan Michael Key and most recently, current Saturday Night Live stars Cecily Strong, Tim Robinson, and Jason Sudeikis.

Sea Tea Improv is Connecticut’s premiere improv comedy company. Formed in 2009, Sea Tea Improv has performed over 300 shows across the East Coast and been featured in a variety of festivals including the Del Close Marathon, the Boston Comedy Arts Festival, and the DC Improv Festival. Also performing will be CWRU Improv Group IMPROVment and two sketches from Unsuitable Language. This will be interactive, hilarious, and quick-as-lightning improv comedy.

Stand Up For Downs is an organization which started in NE Ohio in 2012 and is making a huge mark in both the world of comedy and the world of Down syndrome throughout the country. SUFD is committed to enhancing the lives of those with Down syndrome through humor. We are thrilled to partner with the Cleveland Comedy Festival for this amazing night of comedy with a national headliner who is also from NE Ohio, Mike Vecchione (Last Comic Standing, Tonight Show, Comedy Central). 50% of all tickets sales will go directly to Stand Up For Downs.

NYC-based comedian Todd Barry is widely known for his roles on HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords” and as Mickey Rourke’s deli boss in the 2009 Oscar winner “The Wrestler”. Todd is known for his deadpan self-deprecation and ability to pile punchline upon punchline, he has appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Late Show with David Letterman, Louie, Sex and the City and has had two Comedy Central specials. The Cleveland Comedy Festival is very proud to present Todd Barry as our festival headliner at the Allen Theatre. Also appearing will be Tim Cornett, Michael Ivy and Darrell Dawson.

Our co-founder JD Sidley envisioned Class Clown as a way to develop the next generation of Cleveland comedians. He would be proud as this year’s class has exceeded our expectations. See our Class Clown comedy class students graduate and perform their first 5-minute stand-up routine. These young comedians have worked hard for 4 weeks honing their routines and are ready to show the world how funny they are. Featuring Maya Duplik, Brad Beverly, Clara Varndell, Charlie Adams, and Fintan Bracken. Headlined by Cleveland favorite Jeff Blanchard.
